Developed from many years of operator experience on LeTourneau Loaders, the LeTourneau Operator Training Program delivers the most practical applications and theories designed to help mining operators realize the maximum return on investment from their LeTourneau loader or dozer.
The Operator Training Courses are implemented through three distinct levels of training:
Level I offers basic machine familiarization.
Level II covers practical applications and general digging theories, providing the skills needed to productively operate the machine in a variety of working conditions.
Level III is an advanced course utilizing tools such as benchmarking and other data collection to help design a digging style tailor-made for the specific mine.

Level I Syllabus
LeTourneau Level I Authorized Operator Training is an introduction and familiarization to the machine. It allows operators to safely move the machine in a non-production atmosphere.
Using the Operators Handbook as a reference, we will cover:
Machine specifications
Machine safety and emergency shut down procedures
Machine start up and shut down procedures
Fire suppression
LINCS® navigation
Alarm / warning reaction
Machine capabilities and limits
Avoiding hazards and tire damage
Communication
Machine pre-shift inspection
Machine controls and functions
Introduction to digging theories
Questions and answers
Level I Operator Training will accommodate 8 trainees in 2 ten-hour days.
Day one will be classroom and day two will be on the machine. This allows operators to get familiar with the machine's controls in a safe operating location. Site specific items can also be included into the course if prior arrangements have been made. Level I and Level II Operator Training will train 8 people in 80 hours (8 days).
Level II Syllabus
LeTourneau Level II Authorized Operator Training is directed at the machine in production mode. Practical applications and general digging theories will be applied to give operators the skills
needed to safely and productively operate the machine in various working conditions. Specific items to be covered will include:
Proper truck placement
Applying different digging theories when needed
Digging effectively without tire spin
Understanding machine controls
Understanding machine limits and capabilities
Tram procedures
LINCS® navigation
Control and maintaining work area
Importance of load placement
Understanding production cycles
Emergency procedures
Working with support equipment
Communication
Ensuring safe and productive attitude
Level II Operator Training should be limited to one or two operators per shift. We recommend splitting the shifts (5 hours for day shift, 5 hours for night shift) but the time frames
will be determined by the mine's needs. Level I and Level II Operator Training will train 8 people in 80 hours (8 days).
Level III Consulting - Training
LeTourneau Level III Consulting and Training is an advanced course designed to get the most production as safely and efficiently as possible with LeTourneau machines.
Tools such as benchmarking and machine downloads will be implemented in designing a specific program catered to a customer's needs.

Operator's skill level
Truck availability
Haul truck flow
Digging conditions
Proper use of support conditions
Weather
Haul distances
Level III Operator Training consists of two-week audit (80 hours). This audit will include:
Benchmarking the loader
Studying machine downloads
Observing haulage flow
Observing dig face conditions
A full report will be written with recommendations on ways to improve the loader's production. The results of the audit report will determine the time frame for corrective action. LeTourneau will no longer recognize training from non-authorized trainers.

To be supplied by the dealer or customer:
Classroom, suitable for training between 4 to 15 students
Large marker board
Pens and erasers
Digital video projector
Overhead projector and screen
Notepads and pencils
LeTourneau machine for hands-on training
To be supplied by LeTourneau:
Ten sets of training manuals (additional sets can be purchased if requested at the time of scheduling)
Reservations for the Operator Training Course must be received at least six weeks in advance and should be accompanied by a purchase order, unless covered under a sales contract.
Dealer or customer cancellation within two weeks of the scheduled course will result in a cancellation fee plus all incurred expenses.
