Electric Drive Improves Tire Life of Loaders

Longview, TXThe unique independent four-wheel electric drive system employed by LeTourneau Technologies™ 50-Series loaders can deliver significantly longer tire life than that provided by common gear-driven loaders.

Tire wear is seriously affected by harsh, uneven terrain. Loaders propelled by LeTourneau’s electric drive system enjoy dramatically increased tire life because it directs power to each wheel independently as needed to adjust for the changes in the topography.  By applying power to the wheels that are making solid contact with the ground and backing off the power to the wheels that are not in contact with the ground, this unique drive systems reduces the tire slippage that can rapidly destroy tread.

LeTourneau offers four models in their 50-Series from the nimble L-950 Pit Bull™ loaders to the gigantic L-2350, the largest front-end wheel loader in the world. Payload capacities for these loaders range from 54,000 to 160,000 pounds with bucket capacity from 18 to 53 cubic yards.

In addition to a broad line of wheel loaders and dozers for mining operations, LeTourneau Technologies manufactures jack-up drilling rigs for offshore petroleum exploration; log stackers for the forestry market; specialty steels; and electrical drive systems for industrial and transportation uses. The company also provides top drives, mud pumps, drawworks, rotary tables, and ancillary drilling products for the oil and gas industry.
